Pageant
History
The Miss Rodeo California Pageant is
held annually to select a young lady to represent the Golden State
while promoting the sport of professional rodeo and the great
western way of life. Each year, talented California cowgirls from
the ages of 18 to 25 years compete for this prestigious title.
Previously held in
Turlock, the pageant moved to Sacramento in 1982 and to Brawley in
1988. In 1989, the pageant was moved to San Diego County and was
held in conjunction with the Poway Rodeo. After a successful 5 years
on Poway, it was moved to Fresno in 1995. The following year the
Miss Rodeo California Pageant settled in San Dimas as a part of the
annual San Dimas Western Days & Rodeo and stayed for 12 years. In
2008 the pageant moved up to Paso Robles where the tradition now
continues.
